The history of the WWII Glider Program is a complicated one, and one that has been grossly oversimplified. It cannot be looked at in isolation from its inception in 1941 onwards, an understanding of the larger struggles it was involved in which culminated in it being established must be studied. It is then easier to understand why it often was relegated to the back burner in terms of training and equipment in its onset.
