Jim- I love what you are saying and I get it. I also like having the written word in front of me because I get easily distracted as well. I appreciate your response!

Monique, I thought I would throw in my two cents here. I am a history nut and a frequent reader. My preference has always been written material. I enjoy podcasts but I also find myself distracted by live visuals. No doubt, there are many others who able to ignore backgrounds and the details of the sight and sounds of participants. There is a lack of desired imagination I enjoy with only words because it's all right there on a screen (if that makes any sense at all). I wander and stray too much because I am curious about everything. Sounds strange possibly - especially in the current day of video and sound popularity, but I get so much more out of reading. It even carries over to audio books for me. I'm not a fan, which again most certainly places me in the minority. The pronunciation, voice interpretation and tone of the audio reader injects itself too much to allow me to enjoy the story to the max. A strange and somewhat archaic opinion possibly but I guess I'm just impossibly stuck in the simple world of reading the written word. - Jim

I tend to agree, @Jim. I’d much rather read something than see it on a screen or listen to it - and for the same reasons - unbridled curiosity!

My solution is to include both, at least when it comes to interviews.
